Yet to pick a name. But man am I going to enjoy this one.
2013 Kawasaki Z1000
1043CC 4 cylinder motor. 135 HP. 81 ft-lbs of torque. Weights in at 480lbs.
Bike has 44K km. Picked it up for $5700 CAD. Dam good deal as all the other ones with 1/2 the KM were asking like 3 to 4 thousand MORE.
Its got a couple of scuffs here and there. I’m super pumped to get it on the road (waiting for insurance to kick in any day now)

Whoa whoa whoa!! Weren’t you the guy saying that nobody needed anything bigger than a 650??

Uhhh. When is the track day going to happen? Also, I would post pictures of my race bikes but they are currently in a state of half assed assembly.

correct. you dont NEED more then a 650.
wanting more is something different :D
I got bored of the 75HP. 250K km in 5 years does that to you. I wanted some more spice.

next friday. Final prep is underway for me. Just need to mount new tires and get all of gas cans, tent, generator, tire warmers and what not at my house

Im assuming this is your first track day anf you are running street tires. If that is the case, you will not need warmers. You WILL melt the tire very quickly. What tires are you running?
The tent is a good idea. How much water were you planning on bringing? Take that and double it. Gas, bring ten gallons, minimum.

tires are Pilot RS.
going to buy the water and what not the day before. Hitting up costco for a fuck off huge pack of water and gatorade.

Pilot RS are good tires. Definitely skip the warmers though. Optimal operating temp for those are right around 160 degrees F, which is what most warmers START at. Anything higher than that the tire will degrade faster and lose traction.
As for pressures, I’d start at 30F 26R cold. That should get you through your first t-day.

I’m throwing them on, if for nothing more then some insulation. suppoed to be a little chilly that day (high 50s to low 60s) or just turn them on like 5 min before heading out.

Oh I get it dude....
I put over 20K miles on a KLR.. I know you don’t need more, but goddam, some umph is nice.
Nice bike too, you’re stoked.
